Unfortunately for YouPorn and its users, the database of the service has been recently hacked. It tuned out that the security leak happened because a third-party chat service called YP Chat didn’t manage to properly secure its users’ sensitive information.
One of the famous security bloggers, Anders Nilsson, revealed that more than a million of YouPorn users’ credentials leaked and were made public after the recent cyber attack. In result, the chat website of the service has been disabled until an investigation is to be carried out, according to the Luxembourg-based Manwin Holding SARL. According to Kate Miller, a representative for Manwin, the website was operated by some outside company on different servers, which means that there was no breach at YouPorn itself.
Meanwhile, it isn’t the first time when the intruders chose adult portals users as their victims – for instance, Brazzers also had their user-base exposed previously.
Nevertheless, the main problem here is that a lot of Internet users are lazy enough to make up different passwords for various services and therefore have the same password as they did on YouPorn for other websites. The list may include payment services and online stores like PayPal and Amazon, where loss of sensitive information may result in money loss. If you are among those whose password on YouPorn was the same as on some other online services, you are strongly recommended to change all your passwords as soon as possible.
