Bettina Wulff, the wife of former German president, is doing her best to suppress online rumors about her. As such, she is suing Google to prevent it from linking to speculations about her former movements in the red light district.

According to the German press, the 38-year-old wife of the former president had recently submitted an affidavit claiming that all rumors about her having worked as a prostitute in her younger years were all a lie. Over 30 bloggers and media outlets from all over the world had to sign declarations within the past several months pledging to cease and desist from citing such rumors.

It seems that money has changed hands with people trying to keep Bettina Wulff from the door and make her attorneys go away. According to press reports, a number of media outlets were forced to pay tens of thousands of euros for citing the allegations. In addition, she also launched lawsuits against famous German TV personality Günter Jauch, who refused to sign a declaration in question. His TV show had quoted a newspaper article over the speculations and made some interviews about the affair. That’s why Wulff believes that Jauch is the one who started the destruction of her reputation.

Talking about the case against the search engine, it is trying to stop Google using such words as "red-light past," "prostitute" and "escort" in connection with Bettina Wulff's name. The wife of former German president is going to publish a book about her life in the nearest future, which is expected to counter the rumors and be available in all bookstores.

In the meantime, there is still some pondering in the country about her husband, who used to be a leading figure in Christian Democratic Union circles but stepped down from the position after only twenty months in office.
